Legal Resources

The SEAC is a free direct services legal, non-profit organization. Our lawyers provide legal representation to parents and caregivers of children with disabilities from the time of initial referral for services until the child graduates from high school with a regular high school diploma or obtains the age of 21.

After an initial consultation and screening process, the SEAC may provide legal representation to parents at Individualized Educational Plan meetings and meetings related to transitional and related services. The SEAC may also represent parents in mediations, due process hearings and other court appearances. SEAC will perform factual investigations, extensive document review, and draft correspondence, complaints and pleadings. In addition SEAC will attend meetings; contact and interview expert witnesses; conduct research; prepare memoranda of law; and handle the general disposition of cases.
